Weight training is especially important for those of us who are 30 years of age and older. A bi-weekly bout of weight training can help to reverse the natural decline in your metabolism. It also offers excess energy and strengthens bones, which for older women will lessen your risks of developing osteoporosis. It will also elevate your mood naturally during menopause. That’s not to mention the added endurance and energy, plus the improvements to your balance, coordination, posture and overall strength and confidence.

If would like to begin a weight-training program then brace yourself for a ton of benefits. Don’t shy away because you think you’ll have to spend a huge amount of time exercising. Studies show the body benefits from merely 30 minutes three times a week, so take the time to burn extra calories and find all the benefits of a strong healthy body. We are offering a variety of different personal training programs along with complimentary monthly group “Fitness in the Round” meetings. These are designed to encourage, motivate and excite our guests.Call now to schedule a Complimentary Fitness Consultation so we can get you started with a personalized program design today!

The pike (above) is an exercise that promotes shoulder stabilization and core strength. This is an intermediate move that can be modified for a beginner.

The mountain climber (above) is an intermediate move that requires leg and core strength. This exercise is seen as an intermediate move but can also be modified for beginners to build leg strength. This exercise also promotes pelvic stabilization.

The mermaid (above) allows for lengthening along the torso while challenging the core muscles and increasing torso flexibility. The mermaid is great for those with chronic lower back pain as it allows for a release in the musculature in the lower back and pelvic region.

It seems like North Georgia has landed in the middle of the cold and flu season with a bang and everyone around you is sick or has been sick with some sort of bug.  We all know to wash our hands as often as possible but what else can you do to help your body stay healthy?

Yoga is an excellent way to boost the immune system.  The immune system helps the body to fight off germs when they enter the body and it functions based on the health of the circulatory, digestive, and endocrine systems. When all of these systems are working correctly, the body has more resistance to diseases and infections.   Sun salutations are great for increasing the circulation and heating the body.  The bow pose can be used to aid with digestion and the shoulder stand does wonders to stimulate the endocrine system. If you have not done Yoga in the past, you might want to include it in your exercise program or add it back in if you have stopped your practice.  Namaste – Carmen
